So glad I am not the only one who feels this way! I really like to pick out my own things and not feel pressured to buy things if I don’t want to and I didn’t need shoes to try on a top and I didn’t want jewelry I can accesorise my own things. I was so upset and $78.00 for a polyester top is insane…

I’m with you, girl. I used to work in retail and we were trained to be the pushy salesgirls, but I could never do it. However, I had super high sales because I was hands off! I am perfectly capable of doing my own thing, thankyouverymuch. You can practically see the $$ in their eyes!

Also? i will not pay over $10 for any clothes. I shop clearances and sales, use coups, etc. I have a whole closet full of nice things that I got for a steal! Visiting from Lady Blogger’s! Happy tea party

I don’t know why they think people respond to that, pushing and forcing you to make a decision and buy. I don’t respond to it, it actually repels me.

I hate pushy sales people…I’m guessing that stores are not as busy so managers are pushing staff to push customers to buy AND with not as many people coming into the store there are more bored salespeople.

I think that must be the WHBM way. I went into our’s the day after Thanksgiving and found that all the markdowns were an extra 20% off, making them affordable. I took a few things in, and next thing I know she kept bringing me a million things “that would look so cute on your figure” and accessorizing and stuff. I didn’t mind adding some shoes when I had the dresses on, but I didn’t need to see it with a necklace. AND, I kept telling her I wasn’t buying anything that wasn’t on the sale rack and she kept bringing non-sale stuff! I don’t let it get to me… I only buy what I want… but still! I LOVE that store, but I definitely only buy when they have stuff on sale!

i hate when sales people are too pushy, it’s so annoying. i don’t mind them helping me out if i ask for it, but no need to get me jewelry and shoes and stuff like that, that’s just a wee bit overboard.

i know for a fact that the WHBM ladies are on commission, which explains why she was a bit pushy. i work in retail and while they try to make us SELL SELL SELL additional items (belts, jewlery, featured items) i just try to tell people if they look nice in something and really be honest when they ask my opinion.

And THAT is precisely why I refused to “SELL SELL SELL” when I worked in retail. I gauged what people needed/wanted, and I stuck with that. I was successful with that; when I pushed for more, I failed, big time. I hate pushy salespeople too, so I refused to be that.

P.S. Love White House Black Market, such great stuff in there, but it can be a little pricey.

Oh I feel the exact same way lady. She was probably working on commission, hence the pushiness, but still. I like to not be bothered when I’m shopping too and sometimes if the pushiness gets to be too much I’ll leave even if I haven’t been through the whole store.
