As far as writing both novels and doing freelancing, be prepared for a lot of rejection on those fronts. That's not meant to discourage you or frighten you out of pursuing it ... just to prepare you because it's something I wish I'd known more about before I made writing my trade of choice. I know you can handle it though, and the end result will be awesome. Just keep doing things — tutoring, writing, going to social media events, blogging, volunteering, etc., etc. Those aren’t just means to keep you busy, they’ll lead you to your future, whatever that may be.

I love what I do, but it can be very stressful at times. The rewards far outweigh the stress tho!
