[Author's note: depsite my previous...anti-Twilight tendencies, curiousity got the best of me. And with all the press for New Moon in the tabs recently (and all my trips to Target that have allowed me to read said tabs) curiousity got the best of me, and my subconscious dreamed about Twilight earlier this week. Since then, I've been curious. Eager almost. Today, my mum being the awesome mum she is, bought it for me at the Tar-jay. I don't have high expectations and I probably won't watch the movie. No promises though.]

I actually liked the movies much more than the book – and as an avid reader, this will probably tell you what I thought of the book…
I think the storyline and POTENTIAL for the character/story is great — I just think Meyer should have taken a few writing courses (and…picked up a thesaurus) before publishing.
The series is addicting, though, and a good read if only for the pop culture aspect.
I have to admit… I caved about six months ago. I read all of them. And I feel dirty and confused. I am so ashamed.
Haha – you’re funny. I too am considering reading the books out of curiosity. I saw the movie but laughed all the way through at the emo-ness and glittery vamps. I love True Blood though.
When Harry Potter first came out I shunned it as well but then I fell for it all so who knows
Can’t wait to hear your take on these books!
If you’re going to go through the effort of reading the books (which I loved, btw), you HAVE to see the movie. The acting isn’t the best and it’s certainly not Oscar-worthy… but it’s so enjoyable..
Can’t wait to hear how you like it.
As usual the movie is nothing like the books. I heard so much about Twilight and thought “nope, vampires don’t interest me”, but then I got the book from a friend, and I loved it.
I was anti-Twilight for a LONG time. Earlier this year I picked up Twilight for pretty cheap and it sat around my house for months. One day I picked it up and didn’t put it down… and then I picked up the other three and read all of them in less than a week. My fiancĂ© even read them all.
I’m not ashamed at all for reading them all! Going in with no expectations is the best. It’s just a cheesy story to get caught up in. And Robert Pattinson is hot (and has been since Harry Potter) so the movie is the same cheesy fun.
So the real question is, if you do like it, would you actually admit it after being anti-Twilight for so long? It should be a quick read so if you don’t like it, you won’t have wasted too much time.
Dude(ette), I read that book expecting- willing- myself to hate it. I read it in a day, and despite the fact of knowing that it was fluff, it was damn good fluff. Like chocolate marshmellow fluff: unhealthy, bad for you, but oh, delicious. I can’t wait to see if you like it or hate it.
Welcome to the Twilight club. Initiation will happen shortly. Glad you gave into it
Just can’t do it. Let me know how it is…
No this cannot be the first book for the book club!
Heh. I’m interested to hear what you think of it!
I picked it up out of curiosity last year and am embarrassed to say that I really, really enjoyed it. More than I should have…
I resisted the whole Twilight thing too… I gave in at the end of the summer. I wasn’t the “OMG-can’t-put-down-must-read-to-4am” type but it was definitely a read that kept your attention. I’m curious what you think…
I just caved too. I’m interested to know what you thought. I’ve only read Twilight so far, but wasn’t really blown away by it.
