Mission Slingshot Complete

Alternately titled why I will be hiring movers the next time we move.

We have a lot of stuff. I don’t think you fully realize how much stuff you have until you try to shove it all in a 16′ moving truck. Good thing we upgraded because our crap? Was not going to fit in the 10′er that we were considering.

Alternately, it seems like that much more stuff when you don’t have a lot of help. I was told by my mother that you can tell who your real friends are when you move. Unfortunately for us, we picked an awful weekend where everyone had plans or was out of town so I don’t think that’s fair. Though, in college, we did help one another. Hell, I rented a UHaul cargo van to move the ex across town, then hauled ass to two different graduation receptions all in the matter of about five hours! That’s what you do for pals.

Thankfully, while we would have loved more help, the help we had? Was fabulous. Lexi and our neighbor C helped us – Lexi having been sick earlier in the week and C having ran the Marine Corps Marathon the previous weekend were troopers and so incredibly helpful. I owe them my life.

For now though, I have boxes to break down, clothes to wash, books to put away and a novel to write for NaNoWriMo that I have yet to start. I’m not sure I could stand to be a stay-at-home wife. Next week? I’ll focus on getting a job.

[P.S. It's election day! Don't forget to go vote especially if you live in a state like VA or NJ that have competitive Gubernatorial elections going on! Every where else? Municipal elections galore!]
