We’re almost through Don’t Go Over in October.
I’ve done..okay. I slipped up thrice with the shopping.
1. I needed the khakis for work. After wearing a pair that was at least a size too small one night working I went out and bought a pair that was on sale. And a sweater. Probably didn’t need the sweater, but it too was on sale. Total cost of the items was still less than the original price of the pants. Win? Not so much. Shouldn’t have bought the sweater, next time I’ll hold back.
1a. Second instance of shopping came last week I believe, a pair of flat black shoes from DSW and a skirt on sale at ATL. I should have waited on the skirt but I definitely emotionally shopped that day. I don’t remember why I was so distraught, but I think it had something to do with the fact that I was in the city by myself, had the doom of packing up our apartment by myself (which I’m still dealing with). Both were decently priced. I’m not going to say I didn’t need them…the shoes I did, I wear flat shoes constantly and I don’t have a pair of flat black ones. The skirt? Is super cute. I have no regrets. Only that I maybe should have waited (see below).
1b. I bought a couple simple t-shirts that were on sale at Old Navy. No REAL reason. Whoops?
2. We did good about not eating out a lot. This week I’ve been eating what I can at home with the pots and pans all packed up – salads, cereal, microwavable anything. We didn’t really eat out except for the occasional lunch while I was apartment hunting. This week, even though I got take out Sunday it lasted me sunday night and leftovers into yesterday. Today I got lunch at work at the gym so a diet coke and dish of mac & cheese cost me less than $4. Not too shabby.
Reward? Well, I held back this weekend – Hubs let me walk through ATL – I’ve been needing an autumny jacket for our move since it’s definitely jacket weather up north but not quite full on winter-parka weather yet. The jacket I was looking at in ATL, is on sale for $49.99 with an extra 25%. Most certainly better than the 20% regular priced items they were offering this past weekend. So I’m going to check that out as well as a simple black pencil skirt because the one I have has a gaping hole in the slit. I could probably fix it but the lining is really damaged also and Ann Taylor Loft has a couple good ones on sale for $30-40 (+ 25% off).
Generally, I would admit to this ah-hem, dare I say it….shopping problem. It is a problem, howver…I do know when to hold back, and when to save the money. Much better than I probably let on here on the blog. However, Hubs told me about how he got tickets to Game 2 of the World Series thanks to his brother and will be going…sans me….Thursday night. Thus, he told me to go ahead since it’s a sale, and beause he feels bad that he can’t take me(but not go too crazy…obvi). I’m a little bitter, may have had a big fat ugly cry – I’ve been a yankees fan since I was 12 and have been to but 1 game. BIL is a Socks fan and Hubs well, he’s been a more active yankees fan since we started dating over 3 years ago. I am really excited for him, but I just wish I was going too. So my lil mini shop tomorrow? Will be endorsed.
