A Year in Blogging

To commemorate year 2 as a blogger….there’s a giveaway over at Legallyheidi Loves…

Technically, I’ve been blogging since 2001. It started as a love affair with Livejournal. Followed by another, “different” livejournal (I changed usernames) followed by wordpress.com starting today. Back in 2007. I quit the LJ. Saved entries. Deleted the rest. And then as of last year, here I am.

Living my life…in a lot of pink. And a lot of JCrew.

This year I … wrote about wedding planning, I ran another marathon and PRed, lost my job, tried to freelance (and failed), fiance lost his job, I got a new one, and in one week…from today, I’m getting hitched. I started blogging for DC Nearlyweds, as well as Gals Guide. I got a chance to meet so many amazing bloggers thanks to my trek to Chicago for BlogHer 2009 – my first time leaving the Eastern Timezone (in the US – I’ve left my time zone to go to Singapore and London and Amsterdam). Additionally, I was chosen as a Gap Brand Ambassador (which I’m still recounting over at Legallyheidi Loves – my review blog) which was incredibly exciting for me (since 1. I love to shop 2. I love the Gap!). All in all, it’s been an awesome year of blogging.

So I enter year three. I can’t wait to see the people who will come into my life, write as my first year as a newlywed, and see some of my other favorite bloggers get hitched as well!

    Right now my favorite piece of clothing is this black sundress I have that has a large flower on the bottom left side. It fits like a dream, comfy to move in, and can easily be dressed up with a pair of heels and black clutch. I love it.

    My favorite piece of clothing is a hooded sweater that I knit a few years ago. It is edged in black but the majority of the colors are two different tones of green. It is a great sweater to just throw on if I am going out. My other piece is a barn jacket that I bought last year from LL Bean. Love the comfort color and style.

    Oh, my favorite item of clothing is my library shawl from J. Crew! I got it on clearance and it can dress up or dress down an outfit. Plus, it is so comfortable!

    My favorite is this old black mock-turtleneck that I’ve had for I don’t know how many years that goes perfectly with my worn Old Navy jeans. Not exactly something I would wear out, but perfect for a thundery, blustery night curled up reading.

    Right now my favorite piece of clothing is a cardigan sweater. With cooler temps in the morning, it works better than having to wear a coat. It is also the perfect addition to make a sleeveless or strapless dress work appropriate.

    My favorite article of clothing is a red sweater from Anthropologie that my sister bought for my birthday after hearing me say how much I love it. it has anchors on it, which I LOVE and it was so sweet that she remembered AND spent so much on me!

    the cute little jackie o style dress i found at a random shop in soho – black and white checked with a blue belt. i feel so sassy in it, like i can take over the world! and it’s the only outfit i’ve ever worn that somoene has stopped me in the street and said they LOVED it.

    Definitely my Orange Crush shirt. I don’t wear a lot of orange, usually, but it’s a soft orange and it actually looks good on me. On the front, it has the vintage-style orange Crush logo with cute little flowers. On the back, in fake-faded letters, it says “Have a Crush on Me”. I like it because it’s happy, fun, and kinda flirty.

    I have this low cut, lacy red top with an empire waist–from New York & Company– that always looks good even on the worst fat day. I feel great when I wear it because I know I look good!

    My fave clothing item has to be my ripped knee jeans. I know that that look isn’t exactly “so hot right now”, but I love them! They are so comfy and pull off the perfect slouchy look that I like to rock when I do errands!*

    It’s crazy to me to think that I have been reading your blog since before you got engaged. It feels like such a LONG TIME ago, even though it wasn’t.

    One of my favorite articles of clothing is a simple, black dress. I never wear dresses for work, due to me crawling on the ground and generally having to move around and not flash people, so I got to wear it this weekend at a wedding. It’s so simple but comfortable and classy.

    Actually, I think my favorite item of clothing right now is my Gap Straight leg jeans from Maxie’s party. Mostly because they’re new, which has become kind of novel to me lately, but also because I didn’t think I would like them, and I LOVE them.

    Ooh, that’s a tough one! I have to say my favorite article of clothing right now is a pair of fleece pants I’ve had…probably since high school. They’re super cozy and warm so I wear them to bed in the winter and they’re pretty much the most comfortable things I own.

    Happy blogoversary to you! I still remember the first time you commented on my blog, and I was all OMG OMG SHE LIKES ME. I’d read you covertly for awhile; can’t believe it’s been so long!

    Favorite clothes. Hmmm. There’s one scarf I love, one my sister brought me from Paris (even though it said “made in Malaysia” on the tag … till I cut it off, that is). It’s awesome in the winter, but I’ve been wearing it with great success this summer over a tank top … very cute. Also looking forward to wearing my killer boots again here in a few weeks; I bought them first in black, but loved them so much went back for them in brown as well. Ah, fall clothes. So very much to love!

    Spanx. After birthing my baby boy on August 3rd, my favorite article of clothing is now Spanx. Just sucks all of it right on in.

    Nearing the end of pregnancy, I’m finding that anything comfy and that doesn’t restrict the belly is my favorite. I have a great pair of maternity jeans that I could live in if I didn’t have to work. Looking forward to wearing jeans with a zipper and belt loops again though :)

    Oooh Gap! My favorite item of clothing are a good pair of jeans. I’m one of those people that has a weird body type, so very very very few things fit me the way I want. When I find a good pair of skinny jeans that are a) not super incredible long and b) don’t do weird things to my body that I can c) utilize in multiple settings (bars! out and about! casual day! dates!) I wear them to death. I did have a rockin pair of Gap jeans that lasted until I was twenty and my butt appeared (like an evil gift from the Freshman Fifteen, two years later) and ever since then it’s been a pair of Luckys and a pair of AE jeans that are endlessly cycled, over and over and over and over…

    If there was a second item it would be sunglasses, because a good pair of sunglasses can hide EVERYTHING.

    Right now, just a simple white v-neck t-shirt (or really mens undershirt). I took in the sides a little to make it more fitted and where it with everything from jeans, to casual skirts, to summery pants. Love it – and so cheap!

    My favorite piece of clothing depends on the season! In the Summer I love my sparkly silver and black wedges, in the Fall I love hoodies, in the Winter I adore big bulky sweaters and in the Spring I love thin cardigans! Too hard to choose… My favorite would probably be the Fall wardrobe. Best weather ever!

    PS: I love that book you’re reading! I read it awhile back and loved it. Didn’t hurt that I went to school in Ames, IA but even if I didn’t I would still like the story. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!!

    So my favorite article of clothing is a J.Crew sweater set. It’s obnoxiously yellow and every time I wear it I feel — better.     My favorite article of clothing has to be my Pink “boyfriend” sweatpants!! My hubby bought them for me when I first got sick and I wore them to almost every winter appointment!! They are so comfortable and just make me feel so warm and cozy!! I can’t wait to pull them out once it gets cool enough!!
