Google…WTF?

by Heidi on April 4, 2009

Tonight while I was checking my email I happened to notice one of the google ads on my legallyheidi email account (which is a google app account) and I couldn’t help but think…what the eff google?!

It was probably the fact that I emailed my book club gals asking about the April book, during which I suggested this book

But still, google…come on.

Apparently someone’s doing their job with search engine optimization no?

Have you ever gotten any weird google ads in your email???

Why yes google, yes I am curious about Polygamy. Haha, great find.

Google once had an ad for Samsonite next to an article about a girl who was hacked up and stuffed in luggage bags. Priceless unless you were Samsonite and it actually cost you to put the ad up.

AHAHAHAHA! I hope you clicked on it. You know, every time you click on an ad, the advertiser pays … I’d be clicking on that polygamist BS every chance I got!

I’ve definitely gotten some weird ones. I love how their content-neutral scanners get the totally wrong impression of me … some is applicable, but most is totally random. I mostly find it hilarious, till I stop to consider that this data about me ay be being collected in some almighty Google warehouse. Oh, the misapprehensions one would get of me, were one to read only my suggested links… alarming, really!

I’ve gotten really crazy Google ads before on my e-mail account, so I know how you feel. That book looks like a good read, though. At least you know WHY Google placed that ad there. It could be worse…

i’ve been getting so many about vampires lately, which makes sense since i’ve been emailing twilight stuff, but still it’s pretty funny.

I just looked at my gmail and mine was this:

“Quote of the Day – Bill Cosby – “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”"

I think google likes me better than you.

Happy Bday, love!
