I'd been with my ex-fiance for four years when we split up, but we were in a huge rut and I just ignored my gut feeling that it wasn't as good as it should be. And then he ended it when he realized we were both settling. I should have seen it coming and not wasted so much time, but I learned the lesson. I know to trust my gut now, it has wisdom that I can't always put into words or understand but it's always right. The breakup song I used to listen to a lot when I parted ways with my college boyfriend was "The Scientist" by Coldplay, and also "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down. And I feel a bit ridiculous about this but the song that struck a chord with me when I broke up with my fiance was "Tattoo" by Jordin Sparks. So many breakup songs got me through it. Some of my favorites were "Vienna" by The Fray, "Slow Dancing in A Burning Room" by John Mayer, and "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" by Stars (it's not as morbid as it sounds!) This is a great post.
