Tonight is special. Well, no. It’s not. There’s no significance to this weekend – there hasn’t been for a few years – but it’s restaurant week. Fiancé and I didn’t really go out for Valentine’s Day so we’re going out tonight and I’m going shopping while he enjoys his Valentines Day gift at the Grooming Lounge (hot lather shave and a haircut). What am I going to buy?

Earlier this week, I picked up a new running vest and a pair of leggings to start running -I haven’t gotten a run in this week (whoops?) but my friend M definitely kicked my butt with a hardcore arms workout and Sunday am i plan on getting my 8 miler in. I’m shooting for a 4:45:00 marathon so I’m going to be consistently training at around a 10:30-12:00 mile starting this week and not slacking on my cross training either. Thirteen weeks means no more slacking!
I recently picked up two new books (and two new bookmooch books) and I just got a borders gift card (combined with a borders reward coupon for 40% off) from my fabulous Bloggy Valentine. Must go to Borders and indulge in more books. Though so many decisions, so little money…
After my shopping expedition tonight, I’m meeting fiancé, a couple friends of ours (his) for drinks and then a late dinner at Teatro Goldoni for restaurant week. Tomorrow I’ll be at the DC Nearlyweds Bridal Innovators Show at the Liaison Capitol Hill from 10-5 then grabbing dinner with the lovely Liz at Tuscana West for restaurant week. Sunday is just as busy with the day starting with an 8 miler (with puppy oh boy), Mass (did you know Ash Wednesday is next week? That means nearly 40 days till my birthday as it falls on…Easter Sunday this year), followed by a trip to a vineyard with friends of ours that has a fondue and wine special for $12 going on on the weekends of February. I’m TRES excited as I haven’t yet been to a vineyard.
It’s going to be a busy, but fun filled, weekend. To think I was still recovering from the craziness of LAST weekend.
But really, I can want all I want. Material objects are fun sure but they don’t give me the satisfaction of what I really want – which we all know is a new job, some direction and to feel…more at peace with my life and the direction my career is going (at the moment it’s at a dead end…trying so hard to get it back on track). That’s what I really want.
