Why hello friends. I’m back from the Great Trip North v. 2.0 and I’ve gotta tell you? Vacation ending is overrated. I did not wake up with my alarm today, my google reader – while at a tolerable level – seems like it’ll never end, I can’t keep up with Tumblr even if I tried, and I feel like my bedroom got ransacked. I blame that mostly on Fiancé and his inability to unpack in a timely manner. We’ll see if he can do it before we pack again for our MLK weekend trip to CT.
But this week is more reflective. In the past year I’ve done a lot. I stayed a job for over a year, I ran another marathon, I got engaged, I turned 25, I converted to Catholicism and found a faith that I love and feel at home with, made great new friends and got reacquainted with old ones. I read bunches of books – both good and bad, went to a few weddings, and started planning my own. No one died, no one gave birth (well excepting a couple cousins), so thats all status quo.
As far as my resolutions how’d I do?
1. Lose 20lbs – stayed status quo….
2. Race again Hartford Marathon 10/11/08 and shaved 1:06:30 off my time!
3. Find a job I love and/or start worthwhile career…still looking
4. Move back north by 2009 likely 2010
aiming for early 2010/late 2009
5. Go on vacation with boyfriend we went to Old Town, CT, VT, and Boston…but we’re planning Disney for my 26th and Ireland/Italy for the honeymoon!
6. Write more attempted NaNoWriMo got to 25000 words….
7. Stay in touch with friends and family better better. not as good as i could be.
8. Pay off half of credit card debt. sigh….
9. Pay bills on time. Pay more than minimum payment.
10. Complete Blog365 quit in august. whoops?
11. Read 100 50 books. am reading 47!!! So close!!!
So my resolutions fell by the wayside. Whoops?
However, I did get a raise in my job (am expecting one in January with my review), I had a few interviews but nothing panned out, my debt has gone down a little bit not significantly but I am making progress (by not adding to it! go me?), I read 47 books (awesome), ran another marathon and shaved over an hour off my time, made plans for #3 and tentatively #4 (MCM 09 or Philly…), didn’t lose much weight but didn’t gain much either. *shrug* M’eh, all in all? A pretty awesome year on this front.
We have a plan to move up to Connecticut in late 2009-early 2010 (hopefully). Next year my goals are to read a book/week, find a new job, get married, run two marathons, and keep paying down debt. Kind of basic but to the point. I’m focusing on the two marathons so I can shoot for running NYC in 2010 and then Dublin in 2011.
All in all, it was a good, (mostly) drama free year! I am still blessed with an amazing Fiancé, amazing pals near and far both new and old, and an amazing family. I consider myself blessed, lucky and extremely happy (despite my disgruntled attitude at work…). I can only hope that 2009 brings as much – if not more – joy than 2008 did!
How does your 2008 stack up to what you wanted it to be??

Your Irish/Italian honeymoon will be WONDERFUL!! One of my friends just left for her own Irish honeymoon today. Good choice!
I think you did an awesome job on your resolutions. They are hard to keep and you pretty much at least attempted all of them which is awesome.
Amazing about your Italian honeymoon…I am going to Italy in May and totally cannot wait!
I’d say you still managed to accomplish quite a bit! And that should be the primary goal of making resolutions.
2008 was a hell of a year for me, and rarely in a good way, but I did manage to accomplish my primary resolution: lose weight. So I guess I should be happy with at least that.
I’d call this year a success, Miss Pink : ) And I give you a lot of credit for writing out your resolutions … accomplished or not, at least you took that initial action!
A book a week; wow, I’m totally impressed. I’d love to force myself to set that much time out for reading.
I don’t actually remember what my resolutions or goals were for the year… but I do know that I feel like it was a successful year regardless of what I set out to do. I got a new job that I love, moved to a new apartment I love, lost weight, and started running again. I’d say that’s successful for me
Good luck in 2009.

We’re just weeks away from heading out of town again; why put the suitcases away now when I’m just going to have to wrestle them back out again later? This way I’m a step ahead on packing!
