Well kids, turkey day is just a hop, skip and jump and a 5k away. Fiance and I finalized our menu the other day, finished shopping, got a bird about five pounds bigger than we intended (seriously, a 14 lb turkey is way too big for 4 people but the smaller birds were $1 more per pound so it only made sense to get a slightly bigger bird for the less money than the smaller bird).
We named him Robert. Yes we named our bird after Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV). No lie.
So our menu. I’m pretty excited about it. His dad sent us his family’s menu and we used it as a guide.
First Course/Appetizers
Cheese plate – various cheeses and crackers
Veggie platter (Broccoli, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery) with dip
Main Course
Sage Roasted Turkey
Sausage Stuffing
Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes
Maple-glazed Carrots
Green Bean Casserole
Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Cranberry Sauce
Dinner rolls
Dessert
Apple Pie (Fiance’s dad’s famous recipe)
Pumpkin Pie (M is bringing that)
Cheesecake (other MT is bringing that)

all courses will be served with wine, and/or beer.

I also have to say that you freaders are the GREATEST! Because of all you (and a few non-readers i.e. MY MOM) I reached my fundraising goal of $110 for the Turkey Trot! Today I am thankful for all of you! All of my freaders are brilliant, generous, creative, funny and never cease to amaze me with their….humanness. I may not know 90% of you in person but thanks to the power of the blogosphere I always have someone to bitch with on Twitter when I’m having a bad day, gossip with on Gtalk about the latest episode of ANTM, or whenever I need someone to just listen to me. It may sound cheesy but the people around the blogosphere are incredible and each day, I appreciate you all more and more thanks to your support, your kind words, and your relatableness. Thank you guys
