Wedding Wednesday 10-22-08

by Heidi on October 22, 2008

Welcome back to wedding wednesdays friends. I’ve been a bit busy and since not too much has been going on over in the wedding front, well, thats all about to change. FiancĂ© and I are finalizing the guest list this weekend so I can start my first DIY project as I mentioned on my most recent DC Nearlyweds post.

The save the dates. They need to go out in January and since the holidays are just around the corner, I want them done and ready to go out before we leave for New England on the 20th of December. I’d much rather have them done sooner as opposed to later because soon it’ll be holiday party season, and Christmas shopping season and OMG THERE WILL BE NO TIME. Seriously, that is a glimpse of me freaking my shit all over the place if I don’t get these done asap. Not to mention, I’m picky. And not to be all bridezilla-y if I know I can do them myself why not just get them over with as opposed to paying for something I’m lukewarm about. This is cake man, I can totes do this.

So I did some research, and researched some more. We knew we wanted magnets, and I knew I wanted them to have one of our fabulous engagement shots on it. Except I wasn’t really feeling the photo magnets out there. So I did some more research and decided I could make my own freakin’ save the dates. I might not be the craftiest person (at all) but this didn’t seem so hard. I found a DIY guide on the Associated Press, and a few examples on WeddingBee that I really liked. So I bugged my pal for the rest of our engagement shots, and set down to make friends with MS Publisher since I don’t have access to any of the fancy schmancy Adobe software out there. My inspiration is here and here and this is the save the date I’ve kind of replicated. See example #1 (which was actually the second one i made).

Both of these were made using microsoft publisher, this weekend I want to go get supplies though realistically, I’ll have to wait till next weekend. It depends on when I can get over to Georgetown and/or a craft store. The first step was making the image next step incorporating it into the card part, getting envelopes, addressing said envelopes (FiancĂ© has WRETCHED handwriting so I’ll likely be doing these myself. Thankfully there’s not too many and since I like doing this kind of stuff…why not, right?) and getting stamps, etc. Not too hard. Right? Well, we’ll see, if in a couple weeks I’m eating my words please feel free to laugh and/or say “I told you you couldn’t handle DIY you fool.”

So now that step one is out of the way (well almost) what do y’all think???
