Wedding Wednesday week..i lost count

by Heidi on September 10, 2008

So last night I got my package from my Autumn Swap partner from the swap that Running Just as Fast as I can hosted.

In it, was a wedding album, some treats for the pup and best of all, she did her research and got us our first registry gift :)

The swap package – the Utensils are next to the Treats :)

Treats that puppy loved – Thank you so much Cat’s Pajamas!!!

Anyhow…so our first registry gift – a near identical of these that i registered for at Crate and Barrel…

Which by the way, is just…awesome.

Our registries have been a work in progress (and the subject of many discussions – especially from Fiancé’s mother who “can’t believe” that we’d register for this…

[From here]

Now let me explain before y’all go passing judgment like she did (bless her heart). Fiancé and I set up our Macy’s registry on a Sunday afternoon, we didn’t have much time before we wanted to get back to the hill to go to 5pm mass, so we walked around, scanned some stuff we thought would be fun, some stuff we knew we wanted, looked at other stuff and decided we still had some research to do because really that scanner was a lot of fun so we just…scanned a bunch of stuff. Thus why this beast shows up on the registry.

But fiancé wanted to register for it. His mother thinks it makes us look greedy that we’re asking for that and not say…pots and pans and dinnerware and silverware. But as I’ve told her, it’s a work in progress. If we had some time to commit to going to register, we would. Unfortunately, as of late, we haven’t. But man oh man, I can’t wait till we do. Besides, no one besides my mother, and his mother and siblings and father know about it and have even looked. I’m sure once we research everything and finish the registering process, it’ll be fine. From what I’ve heard from all my newlywed friends, you take things off, you add things, you change your mind. And from what I’ve read in wedding magazines and books, you’re SUPPOSED to have some high ticket items, and some low ticket and some medium ticket. There’s nothing wrong with it being a wish list. You want your guests to have variety no? I mean a couple of my friends lacked on the variety, by the time i went to buy them a gift there was nothing but towels, shoe racks, and bathroom stuff on there. And while I understand that stuff is important too, it looks kind of cheesy as a gift no? I’d rather get them something better, nicer, but my fault for slacking. Oh well? So the point is, everything I’ve read says to have enough stuff on there to give your guests variety and have a number of different price points. So okay…we will.

So thats my wedding wednesday post, i’ve been slacking recently since I STILL haven’t done much – though this month my mission is to find an AFFORDABLE (but still classy) photographer and a nice florist for suggestions, and find a dj though i do have a couple leads. Oh yeah, and get my dress when my mother is down visiting ;) gah, can’t wait. Need to make appointments soon, need to do a bit more research, and we have another bridal show to go to this weekend. Woo!

ALSO!

So I got this phone call the other day from a company who claimed within the first two minutes that i had entered a contest and won a FREE! 3 day 2 night stay at an all inclusive resort! All i had to do was go see one of their demonstrations. Which really isn’t a big deal since we had no plans, it doesn’t cost us anything so whatever. Fiancé is still a little weirded out but since we BOTH have to be there to get the prize, he’s getting dragged.

Finally…, I’m cranky, sad, frustrated, and pissed off. It’s not been a great day, nothing has happened yet but there’s rumors that i could be given a project that i would be…incredibly uncomfortable with, and is not in my paygrade (think…calling parents on a committee for my boss’s granddaughter’s school) so i’m a little disgruntled, i feel like wedding stuff is falling apart (wait there’s nothing TO fall apart because i haven’t DONE anything yet), my house is falling apart (our dishwasher leaks, our sink smells, and our garbage disposal is backed up and fiancé doesn’t want to have the shitty fix it dude come to fix it because last time he yelled at him for some destruction ellie has caused around the house…whoops?), and i’m just…beyond frustrated. Looking forward to our little get away to Old Town this weekend but unfortunately it can’t come soon enough. *sigh*

Happy wedding wednesday ya’ll! They’re back. I’ll try to keep the wedding stuff churning :)

Hi! So glad that you (and the puppy) liked your swap gift! I say go ahead and register for the expensive items. I had several friends that wanted to go in together and buy us something nicer rather than all buy little stuff. If you don’t get it, it’s not going to hurt anything, but if you do, it is really exciting! Good luck with the rest of the wedding stuff and work!

Oh that photo of the Heineken tap had me laughing. I think that’s hilarious, and I’d love to see that on someone’s registry! It shows a lot of spunk and character. I’ve totally been stuck looking at picked over towels and pillowcases on registries before. And juice glasses! Lots and lots of plain juice glasses.

Hope you guys have a great get away this weekend! Of course I’m biased, but old town = love.

I think you should be able to register for whatever you want! It’s your wedding. Plus, I love the idea of a beer tap. :)

what a sweet swap package, haha. and that tap is pretty cool and better than some things i’ve seen on registries. just don’t register for $100 glass pepper and salt shakers okay? sweet.

I’m with everyone else. You should be able to register for whatever things you would like in your house. And you need to go for various price ranges. People can always purchase as a group….
AND if no one wants to get it for you, no one has to!

I would rather get you a beer tap as a gift than some expensive place setting that I know you wouldn’t use!

Hope the week gets better – it’s definitely dragging.

Aww so what are you guys doing in Old Town? We went to dinner at Hotel MOnaco last night, and it was delicious. Sorry things suck right now.

Steve HATES Williams Sonoma, but I love it. They have a kegerator that I told him he could add to the list if we can register there :)

That puppy pic is the best haha

Beware of trickery. That FREE trip may be a scam. Just don’t sign anything unless you read it carefully.

And I see nothing wrong with registering for that. :)

ok, so I read most of this post but I had to comment before I forgot my thought

People need to STFU about the things on people’s registries.
In my opinion the point of a registry is to register for things that you would love to have but would never be able to buy yourself…. and to put things on it that you would really like…

Just because it’s on there doesn’t mean that people HAVE to buy it for you.
But it’s supposed to reflect your taste and let me tell you I love that Heine BeerTender….

    So THERE

    awww, beggin’ strips.

I chose to register for Snausages on my registery ;)

You’re not greedy! It’s your wedding, if you want to ask for 25 beer machines, you can ask for 25 beer machines. If people don’t want to buy you a beer machine, nobody is making them.

My friend is getting married on Sat. and her registry was soooo boring. And basically empty, so I’m pretty much forced to just write them a check. I’d rather buy them a beer machine!!
