Wedding Wednesday: More gowns (one day early)

by Heidi on August 26, 2008

I should start by saying – thank you to all my fabulous freaders. I hope I didn’t come off as needing self-gratification, but your comments? Fabulous. Mostly I just wanted to call out the douchebag in public not to get the ego-boosting comments from y’all. But serious, you freaders are the best freaders EVER!!!

But really? I want to share with you all something. I was going to save this for a wedding Wednesday post but then I said screw it. I’m far too excited. It’s only one day early anyhow so why not??

Now, to give a disclaimer, I still have not found THE dress. Mostly because I’m indecisive, but I do know that THE dress is either this one, or one of these two that I tried on this weekend with Liz at David’s Bridal up in Rockville. See the pictures…below!

Dress numero Uno

I think of the three, I like this one best. maybe. I have to try it on again with a colored sash. I’m obsessed with color sashes.

Dress Numero Dos

Front view…and…

back view. This one seems to be the favorite of the bunches.

Finally…dress numero tres…

Wasn’t so much a fan of this one – didn’t like the back and it was two sizes too big.

So, there’s your Wedding…Tuesday post. I have a few more salons to go to in the next month but that’s okay – trying on dresses is fun! This weekend, not gonna lie, I wasn’t expecting to actually…enjoy David’s Bridal, much less have an almost pleasant experience given all the horror stories I had heard. It wasn’t so bad if I hadn’t had to wait 45 minutes to meet with a consultant, and then have her only bring one dress at a time, leave me by myself because she was too busy putting previous dresses away. Not cool lady. Not cool. Liz kept asking me where my gal was, I told her that she was…”around…you know…” I was confused and a little annoyed. Perhaps next time I go, I’ll ask for a different consultant (is that allowed??).

Needless to say, I’ll be taking mother and future MIL up there when they come down, the dresses were reasonably priced and while I loved the dress I posted about last week, these two have the very big advantage of being…white. I <3 white. Also, they’re about $1000 cheaper. Always a plus.

Thoughts gals?

Fret not, I couldn’t resist and showed fiancé the pictures. I couldn’t resist. They made me too giddy. Needless to say when i find THE dress? He won’t be seeing any pict0rs of it ;)

Personally, I like the second one best. Maybe it’s the sash… I’d have to see the others with one. What color sash are you getting? I LOVE that sage color!

I was going to say that I like #2 the best, but then I looked at the others again and now I can’t really decide. They are all so pretty!

LOVE the second and third. The first one is just .. too much? It looks really big? Whereas the other two shows you off so much more – I see you, not dress. :) So pretty! You’re gonna be a beautiful bride.

Hmm… I like the wider sash on the second but the gathering on the third so ummm, just combine them and that is my favorite one!

  • http://notsojenny.wordpress.com notsojenny

i vote for the 2nd one on here. but given that the others you’ve picked out so far all seem to have the gathering/bunching i’m assuming that’s more of what you’re going for.

Dress number two is gorgeous :) I like both of them but the second one is my fave!

There is just something about a wedding dress that makes you feel gorgeous!! All of them are beautiful, but I think that’s a wedding dress thing.

  • http://www.ihatesomuch.com/ Maxie

I think I actually like the second one the best :-)

  • http://www.nicoleisbetter.com nicoleantoinette

The second one is my favorite. No question. It’s the most flattering on you and is just so… bride-like.

  • Confused

I love numero dos! And with a colour sash! Beeeautiful!!! :-)

  • http://rightmyerrants.blogspot.com Rightmyer Rants

I like dress #1, but the sash on #2 is gorgeous! They all look wonderful on you!

  • emily

I like number three. it’s slimming. Get a colored sash added when you get the alterations done!

  • http://citygrits.net LJ

I like the second one as well. So pretty! Very flattering.

  • http://willtherebecake.wordpress.com Liz

I like dress #2 because a)it’s so slimming and 2)makes the colored sash stand out more. A sash with the bunched-up dresses would be too much, I think. But maybe not. Happy Dress Hunting!

I like both #1 and #2… not such a fan of #3. #1 is nice and princessy, and #2 is sleeker, so it depends on what look you’re going for. And I love the colored sash idea!

  • toospoiledmodels

Oh they’re all so pretty! I’m definitely a fan of the second, though. I’m also a huge fan of simplicity.

  • http://ifihadtopickfive.wordpress.com Sara

I adore dress #2; it is classic, elegant, flattering and you look stunning. But really, they were all very pretty and you will look amazing and glowing no matter what you have on.

  • http://sannyp.blogspot.com thatShortChick

i think i just let out a ‘eureka!’ that’s the one! for dress #2.

it’s gorgeous!!!!!!! colored sashes are my favorite as well.

  • http://www.ilikebeingrandom.blogspot.com MeBeingRandon

My dress was similar to your number two dress, only without the sash–I had red trim on the top and the bottom and it laced up in the back with red trim! (my hubby is a firefighter so I was in heaven) Plus Im a big fan of color!!!

You look great in all the dresses.

And don’t feel bad about showing fiance` the pictures. When I found “The Dress” I couldn’t wait to show him that I gathered up pictures of all the dresses that I had tried on (not pictures of me in them) and said “Its one of these….which do you hope it is.”

He actually picked the one I bought!!!

PS> yes you can ask for a different consultant at Davids Bridal. I didn’t like the first one I got but the second girl that helped me was FABULOUS!!!

  • http://www.prettysandyfeet.com/ katelin

i love one and two the best. i am definitely a fan of the colored sash two and have seen two before, looove.

  • http://www.ladolcevita10.blogspot.com Dolce

I love them all but I have to say I think you look best in dress number 2. You look teeney tiney!

  • http://www.nonsequiturchica.blogspot.com KT

    #2! #2! #2!!!!!!!!!

  • Jackie

#2 is very Heidi-ish and very unique, simple and gorgeous. Love it! But as you said….you will know if it’s the one…and only you :)

  • http://lspoon.wordpress.com littlespoon

    Definitely number 2. :)

  • http://www.ohhowlovely.net Jamie

    #2!!!!

I commented on your flickr about it. You look amazing!

  • http://duwaxloolu.blogspot.com Jess

The second dress is super flattering on you! The other too are all puffy which isn’t my personal thing, but still cute.

It’s hard to get a dress when the sample doesn’t fit you! It’s so hard to envision what it will look like when it does fit properly.

  • http://whatlizsaid.com What Liz Said

Yea, #2! Woo! Although that first one is stunning, as well. I don’t know. #2 just seems a bit more.. polished? I can’t find the right word.

  • Mackennah

    i like 3 sooooooooo much <3
