Finally, what you’ve all been waiting for…my thoughts on the Gossip Girl Season finale (I was going to tie in my reaction to Senator Kennedy’s cancer which I found out about yesterday at our Cancer Town Hall meeting, but that can’t go with gossip girl so I’ll write on that later…)
Gossip Girl
Ok, my first thoughts are…by 830pm EDT…they tried to fit SO MUCH IN!!!
You had the confrontation with Georgina (which was not nearly as bad ass as I anticipated), you had Lily wake up in Rufus’s bed, you had Bart confront Lily, and then of course you had Dan and Blair work together to take down Georgina. In the first half hour.
Not nearly as bad ass of a confrontation as it should have been. Come on i was expecting hair pulling, bitch slapping the WORKS dude!
Second half hour? Wedding time. You have Rufus threaten to break it up by showing up at Lily’s dressing room, Dan and Serena break up, get back together, and by the end of the episode break up again. Nate’s dad comes back to town (!!!) and leaves the country but not before Nate gives him a good sucker punch for being a deebag. And then? Nate and Vanessa break up. THEN! You have Blair and Chuck dance. Kiss. And holy shit it’s a week later and they’re going to Europe together?!

And Dan and Vanessa are hanging out?! And so are Nate and Serena?! Then Bart tells his son that really? You’re not the type to be tied down…sooo you shouldn’t even try. Soooo…yeah. Then? in comes Amelia…some sort of designer who looks like she’s about twelve (and totally reminded me of the southern girl from West Wing…i forget her name but the short spunky one that I adored that used to piss off the Communications guy…fuck i forget her name.) and what do you know…chuck threw out the flowers he got for B, and gave Amelia a single rose as Blair gets on the copter without Chuck but is flirting with one of Bart’s associates?!
Who is this girl?! And what is she doing with Chuck Bass???!!!
WHAT THE HELL!!!
It was…a good episode. I give it that. Butttt there was way too much going on. It did leave cliff hangers because next season we’ll find out if lil J killed herself working for B’s mom, if B got it on with the associate, what Amelia’s role is, do N and S finally date? Do V and D live happily ever after and will B castrate C for standing her up? This feels like a huge lil Algebraic equation but it makes sense. I’m excited to see next season (did it get signed for a second season???) to see what happens with all these high school angsty relationships.
