I am so glad you are going to the doctor, because when I first read this I thought, "OH NO!" Two years ago, I diagnosed myself with patellar tendonitis and it was ITB! So, yeah, doctor and PT!

Ahhh, I just did the same thing last week. I "diagnosed" myself with tendonitis, but then went to see my doctor. She said it would either be plantar fasciitis or a stress fracture. Either way, I was off it for 6 days (no running= hell) and have been taking Celebrex. All yesterday it felt fine, so I decided to try out a nice jog mile. Ended horribly, with me limping home, one shoe in my hand because it was too painful on.

Sooo we can be gimpy runners together?

Thanks for the comment, still figuring out how this whole blogging thing works! : )
Portland, Maine was my first marathon last year. A little too small for my taste, but still a good experience.

i almost got shut out of MCM too, but a friend told me there was less than 1,000 spots left. Maybe you can find someone who wants to get rid of their number? But, Hartford should be a good race. Everyone should do all different types - big, little and all the ones in between, right?

Good luck with the knee - PT helped me alot last year, hopefully you'll find the same! And cross train!

I get runners knee too, and usually a day off of running will do the trick. Better safe than sorry though. I'm curious to hear what the doctor says.

I am the queen of self-diagnosis (followed by total panic). Glad you're going to the doctor as well, and I hope everything turns out okay!!

GOOD LUCK with that! I've dislocated my knees three times, so I know knee injuries are NO fun. Especially when the knee is so important and you use it so much. So do those PT exercises!

My husband likes to diagnose himself as well. WebMD kind of frightens me. I'd prefer living in blissful ignorance :)
