One of those people

by Heidi on April 16, 2008

I am one of those people who….

…loves their job

…paid their taxes at midnight on April 15 – i owed $17 to DC and ummm boyfriend rented the zipcar at 11:45 so we could run over to Mass Ave to drop off my taxes…honestly? I thought I could pay them online. After all you can pay everything else!

…will sleep in at every opportunity. So this morning? When I was supposed to be working from home? I slept till almost 9. Considering I’ll be working till 11:15ish? Like i care.

I got an idea in my head today for work. I’m taking initiative. It’s ultimately self beneficial and if it works out I’ll be able to do some web freelancing on the side, but I need to study up on it, take a class and get my bosses behind me. Someone get this girl a Mac! I’ve got web design on the brain! I’m excited about it because while I love love love policy and know that that’s my career path, more specifically public health, I am looking forward to expanding on my web design hobby which while I know only the very basics, has always been something I’ve been interested in but never really did too much with. I kind of wish I had but…BUT here’s my chance and the fact that I have a supportive office? Makes it that much better.

And yes? To answer the question, yes I was one of those double parked ass holes last night at Mass Ave running, while holding up my sweatpants with my unsealed envelope. FYI, Mr. Treasurer man, I am sorry for not stapling my check, but hell, my tax returns that were filed electronically at 11:46pm last night to the District of Columbia, have not even been ACCEPTED yet and it said “do not send check until you get acceptance email” ….whoops?

Last night? Shecky’s Girl’s night out with Magda and Um…Yum which was…fun! The drinks were small and fruity? The clothes were trendy and not really my style but the company was awesome and I definitely look forward to hanging out with both gals again in the (near?) future.

Tonight and Tomorrow night will be spent slaving away at the gym and then it’s the freakin’ weekend and our great Baltimore excursion which will allow boyfriend and I to take the LIGHT RAIL into downtown baltimore, after we trek from Navy Yard to Greenbelt to BWI. It’s going to take a while. It would be much easier if we drove but ah-hem…we plan on getting some drink on. After all, it’s still my birthday bitches! :D

If you haven’t checked out the awesome Springy mixes, check them out over at Truth Bombs, I plan on downloading a few of them when I get home, unfortunately that probably won’t be till late night. Since it looks like I might get a computer upgrade here shortly thanks to my newfound love of web design!

Anyhow, it’s quittin’ time!

I thought you only had to file your taxes by April 15th, not necessarily pay them. I had until May something to pay my VA taxes. I dunno. Might be different with federal. That sucks you had to pay.

My boyfriend was like, “You drank? You didn’t seem drunk when you got home.” And then I went into the story about the tiny drinks. hahaha

We definitely need to hang out again soon! Get the party club started. ;o)

I love my job too.

But I still cannot believe people file their taxes like 12 minutes before they’re due. As SOON as I get my W2s in late January, I file my taxes the next day. I think I got my refund, like, over two months ago! Hehe.

I love my job too! It’s great! I filed my taxes a few days in advance! I filed them last Friday. It was nice not to have to worry about at the very last minute.

Ooh I wish I had your life other than paying my taxes at 11:45 PM on April 15th… glad you got those in. I sent mine through the mail a couple of weeks ago so my trust is all in the US postal service.

That is the most hilarious tax story. Glad you got them in on time, though! And all of that for a mere $17? Sheesh! I owed the commonwealth hundreds. Boo.

And yes, we should definitely get together again :)

It was you! who was double parked and in my way last night. LOL! Just kidding. Glad you got those taxes in. The last thing you want is the “man” breathing down your neck for $17.
