This weekend, I made the conscious decision to train for and race in a triathlon. I think I may have found one, though I’m not sure. My first one, will likely be a sprint one as opposed to the olympic length – a 1mile swim, 24ish mile bike and 6.2 mile run. I think the .5 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 3.1 mile run is much more realistic.
Before I start running again however, I need to get into the doctors to get my knees looked at. The marathon did a number on them and I haven’t ran since. It’s nothing serious (I hope) but more likely just the imbalance in muscles between my inner and outer knee that’s causing the discomfort. I’ve had this since I was pre-pubescent and it’s been acting up lately.
Now, all I need to is find a good training plan, a new pair of sneaks, and a bike to really start training for now until i get both those, I’m going to start swimming 3-4 days/week at the gym I belong to downstairs. Yes I pay for a gym when I get a free gym membership from the one I work at. I joined this one at the height of my marathon training, i’d go for my run in the evening heat and then come back and swim a bit. What’s up gym with a pool.
Anyhow, on top of that, I was thinking about looking into getting my personal training certification in the next year or so. I could make a decent amount of money on the side doing this and it would really help me stay in shape as well. It kind of goes along with the whole…abs instructor thing too.
Now lets see how long this lasts. If anyone knows anything about triathlon races/training/tips, or knows of one I should race in August/September-ish, let me know!
