Happy flippin’ monday

by Heidi on March 3, 2008

So i just bought my ticket for Sia with Deutlich, Maxie and 1218blog this Friday and I just bought my tickets cause I’m slow. (good thing it didn’t sell out then I would have been SOL) but $4 surcharge to PICK UP MY TICKETS AT THE DOOR! What. The. Hell?

I mean let’s look beyond the point that I’m tired (3:45am wake up call? Anyone??), cranky and need more food than I’ve had so far….but that just seems….lame. Dumb. Idiotic. I mean you’re getting a $4 surcharge for buying the tickets online, now you need another one to pick up the tickets at the freakin’ door??? Stupid ticketmaster.

Speaking of ticketmaster!!! Boyfriend and I tried relentlessly and unsuccessfully to get tickets to the Yankees v. Red Socks game at Yankee Stadium on July 5th. We waited and waited and waited and then he got tickets! But oh, no…they were for the July 16th or something game v. the Oakland A’s. Needless to say, we will not (as of yet) be going to the Yanks v. Socks game fourth of july weekend. If anyone has any suggestions as to how/where we can get tickets that ARE NOT $60 for bleacher seats (SERIOUSLY!!!) let me know! He did however, get tickets for the Yankees @ Baltimore game the weekend AFTER my 25th birthday. I’m trying to figure out where the hell I want to go for my birthday…my dad wants me to go home for it but I really don’t know how I feel spending my quarterlife birthday with my dear old dad and stepmother. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that.

Other options? Maybe flying to Boston? Staying in DC? Going to NYC? Harrumph. We’ll see.  I still have a little over a month…gah! A little over a month till i’m 25! That’s so crazy!!!

The wedding.

Oh it was beautiful! Not really…my style…but it doesn’t have to be because it’s not mine. Pink and Red though?? Yikes. However, the ceremony was beautiful, the cocktail hour has carving stations, caviar stations, a martini bar, an ice luge, a sushi bar, stir fry stations, a full bar, and other h’or duerves floating around. The meal was 5 courses, with dancing between each. The filet mignon was filling, rich and not quite as rare as I would liked my medium rare steak to be. The salmon (the starter) was delicious and served on a bed of sticky rice. Next was a salad that wasn’t that great…a little too salty. The filet mignon (one of four choices for the main dish) was next which was delish also. The desert included strawberry shortcake or a chocolate truffle type cupcake thing which was filled with still warm fudge sauce. Sooo good (boyfriend had the chocolate and I had the strawberry shortcake) then the wedding cake was served which was a coconut type cake..but i don’t like coconut :X We arrived at the wedding – afraid of being 25 minutes late – because the invitation said it started at 6:30 but it actually started at 7. When we called a cab from our hotel they ended up sending a towncar, with a spunky Ecuadorean driver who got lost and tried to drop us off at some random restaurant because his dispatch told him thats where it was. Clearly dude, it was not the country club we were supposed to be at. Needless to say, with his iPhone technology, boyfriend ended up google-mapping (i love how thats a verb) our way to the country club. I should be thankful to still be alive, the driver ran at least 1 red light (blatantly red). The second (or was it third?) one he decided not to run because of his gut. Sure enough, the light turned red and at the corner was a cop who turned left and drove right past us. Huh funny how that gut instinct thing works out.

Anyhow. So the wedding was great. Boyfriend and I have started thinking more and more about our own wedding hopefully to be held next year thought I won’t plan anything until I have a lil piece of bling on my finger.

On the way home yesterday, I had hoped to stop at the outlets in Delaware but low and behold…there are no outlets except the ones in Rehoboth. Which boyfriend will take me to this spring…so no outlet shopping for me, which is just as well since I gave it up for Lent. Two weeks from Saturday!! I’ve been doing so well!!!

We did however, stop at Ikea in College Park and bought a new chair…

to replace our big chair that we have because boyfriend thinks it’s “ugly” which it really is and looks out of place with our not so big sofa that no longer matches.  Unfortunately, the chair didn’t fit in our little civic that we had for the weekend. Therefore…we have the cover but we need to go back and get the chair with a zipcar that it’ll fit in. Whoops.

Anyhow, I have bunches of research to do and a conference call in about 10-15 minutes and I want to punch myself in the face I’m so tired but oh, of course I’m going to stop at Nordstrom (maybe) to find a new freakin’ pair of jeans. of course I am. Man what a freakin’ way to start out the week. Guh.

Grimaced at the mental picture of a red and pink wedding. I wish people would stop making pink-themed parties. Hate. It looks awful on photos.

Too bad I’ll miss you at the Stadium for the 5th.

I’ll ask some of my friends to see if they’re willing to part with their seats.

I love the chair, super cute.

And probably smart not to plan a wedding until you have the bling, haha. I am definitely the same way. :)
