but but i waaaannttt

by Heidi on February 20, 2008

So I ordered sushi for lunch across the street. Unfortunately, their philly rolls will never quite compare to the ones I get on the Hill at Hunan Dynasty. Except this time, not only were the rolls weak, but they also forgot to give me my Salmon roll!!! WTF M8?!

Grrr

My work is driving me crazy, thankfully I get to leave a bit early today to take the pup to the vet to hopefully fight whatever she has/had that was causing her to crap all over the place.

This works out since I’m working at the gym…seven till 11:30 or so.

I already want to stab myself in the eye. Guh.

But for now, on a more positive note, here are some more answers to your questions..wahoo!

Free and Flawed asked me…”What is the best piece of advice you’ve received? What is your favorite book and why?”

I would say…the generic “you can do whatever you put your mind to” would be the best advice ever. Because it’s true, and I live by it and I’ve come so far, everything I have I’ve gotten through my own hard work. I am a firm firm believer in putting your mind to something to get it done. My favorite book? Well recently I really liked Bitter is the New Black  by Jen Lancaster. But all time? I would have to say I am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe. I thought it was well researched, well written, and what other book other than a GREAT one takes two weeks to get through 700 pages?

Virginia asked “ If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? If you could travel anywhere in any TIME PERIOD, where/when would it be? And a follow-up if you are super duper bored: If you were on death row (this isn’t meant to sound morbid), what would your last dinner be? It can be as many courses as you want.”

1. Europe. All around Europe. Norway, Germany, Italy, Greece, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Finland, Sweden, England. Seriously I want to visit them all. When I went to London for spring break, I wanted to go on a quick lil overnight trip, but i couldn’t decide between Paris, Italy, Ireland and Norway so I ended up going to Amsterdam for the weekend with my pal who I was visiting. Best. Trip. Ever.

As for time travel? I dunno. Probably Colonial America. More specifically NYC/Boston in colonial times. I think that would be awesome. Also, as depressing as this may be, Europe during WWII. I’ve always been fascinated with post WWI history (1920-present time) and think that if we could go back in time and see what happened and how it’s relevant to what’s going on in the world today with all the ethnic differences the world might solve a few problems. Maybe that’s just me.

Last meal…well…I’d have to say mexican. Actually it would be a day long feast with a brunch of cinnamon french toast and cap’n crunch (with the berries!)  and a dunkin donuts egg and cheese sandwhich on a wheat bagel. Lunch would be a pork roast cooked medium rare, with candied carrots, garlic mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Lots of stuffing. Dinner would be an appetizer of cheese nachos, followed by cheese enchilladas, followed by a chicken burrito. Dessert would be chocolate cupcakes with white frosting, followed by a slice of NY Cheesecake and patchwork ice cream by Hood (which for those of you who aren’t from New England, it’s chocolate and vanilla in a patchwork pattern. Sooo good). Drinks would flow with a mixture of Magners Cider, Dr.Pepper (seriously i still love but i’m keeping myself away from my forbidden loverrrrr) and red wine (i forget the type but boyfriend knows what i’m talking about) mmmmm. sweet sparkly red wine.

Julie asked me “if you got asked to do a guest stint on any show, what show would it be?”

Real World. hands down. They may all be douchebags but their houses are awesome and I could use an excuse to party hardy for a few nights :)

Nicole asked “What was your favorite birthday and why?”

Twenty three. It was what I called my “3rd twenty-first” and can best be summed up with this photo…

That my friends is me, in my drunken stupor, thinking it would be a good idea to try to do a split…hockey goalie style. Unfortunately it did not go so well and i was left wondering when i saw the pictures “where’d my shoe go”

But really, that birthday means the most to me because it was the last of my college career. I was with all (and I do mean ALL) of my fabulous favorites, who ensured that I didn’t have less than two drinks at any given time, that I was thoroughly liquored up. Not to mention, the drinking started early. About 3pm early. Which was about when i was supposed to be in my last seminar. Which was my last class of my college career. yes i skipped it to share pitchers of Sam Adams in a bar with a pal of mine. The next awesome part? when I passed the torch of the college dems to my successor. They did a roast of me, which was funny…I s’pose. M’eh. I was more happy to be done with the stress. Then there was a moment…when my old gang. My friends since freshman/sophomore year when we all became a family sharing dinners, tears, secrets, nights of holding hair back, parties, and everything in between together. TLB, PBM, S, M, and the ex were all there. Of course the ex  and I weren’t speaking and I made it clear that he wasn’t invited to the festivities but it was so much fun. T and S and I all started crying…it was rather…emotional. That whole time period was because it was the end of life as I knew it…little did I know that there were better things waiting for me though :)

finally…

Jo asked “What’s your favorite childhood memory?” \

Summer after 8th grade. My friends and I ruled the block that we lived in. We’d camp out in our yards, staying up late with bonfires and the local radio station staying up till midnight to listen to the radio station sign off with the national anthem. We’d swim all day, we’d laugh all night…it was one of the last good summers I had till the end of high school. Despite the fact that my parents divorce was finally final and I knew a move was pending in the near future. i made the most of it. thats why it was the best summer (and thus) the best memory of my childhood :)

That picture is just the best thing ever. My 23rd (and most recent) was way way tame by comparison.

Awww that’s great! Sometimes I wish I hadn’t grown up in the city! LOL Especially since my momma didn’t let me roam the streets! LOL
