Pouting Peyton and pouting Heidi

by Heidi on January 14, 2008

Ok Now I’m not gonna lie, I don’t really give a shit about football. Although, I am a New England girl through and through, born and raised. My family has a weird football following, one uncle is a diehard Redskins fan, one is a diehard Cowboys fan. Everyone else is pretty much all for the Pats with a couple of Giants fans thrown in the mix for good measure.

Me? I’m a Pats girl. I went to school in Boston. I rioted in 2004 (albeit breifly…this was before the kid got hit by a car for you NU readers).  I cried a little when Adam Vinatierri got traded to the Colts. I’m not all gung-ho Go Tom Brady but I think he’s pretty rad albeit a bit overrated though. I mean…State of the Union speech? Come on.

So I’m not going to lie…I peed a little bit when I saw the Colts lost to San Diego. I don’t follow these things religiously, though I checked the score frequently on Saturday night,  so I was a bit stoked that the Pats won – albeit a lil worried for a possible rematch with the Colts. I mean, I saw how they played when they played earlier in the season. And let’s be honest, they were outplayed till the last five minutes. They shouldn’t have won that game.

But fear not my friends because Pouting Peyton and the Ponies are heading back to Indiana to farm in the off season. (i associate farms with Indiana because I have an uncle who lives there and has a farm) Have fun boys and don’t forget those winter boots I think it gets cold over there.

Meanwhile, my boys will be gearing up to take down the tattered and torn San Diego Chargers. Woo! Go Pats! Perhaps next weekend boyfriend and I can head down to B-town to watch the game with friends.

In new news – like since i started writing this news, I was called about an interview in the MA State House (a job that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have thanks to my friend Mr.B)  unfortunately, I’m supposed to be at the state house on Tuesday morning (next week) at 10am because I figured I could change my tickets. Unfortunately…easier said than done.

Because we used ticket vouchers, they won’t let you fly out of a separate city than you arrive in. (eff you too US Air!!!)  So now, I either need to A. Call the guy and see if i can just do a phone interview and if he likes me try to get to Boston for round 2 interviews or two…find a time to reschedule (mayhaps next Friday and do a bam in and out trip) Easier said than done though. *sigh* Tough crowd tough crowd. Thankfully I have a few days o figure this baby out…Airtran it looks like is $139 if i fly out that friday and come back Saturday (though i don’t really want to only stay one night.) I need to figure this out so that I can get this job if it’s the last thing I do.

Boyfriend just asked me “what do you want to do? What is going to make you happy?” And you know, as much as I try to change my mind, I really really want politics. I want government relations. I want to be a lobbyist. Preferably at the state level because I think I would rather stab myself in the face than be a sleezeball lobbyist here in DC. But i can’t really do much of that without government experience. This job – would have me WRITING legislation. WRITING!!! Writing TESTIMONY!!! Testimony for committee hearings!!! This job for two years, get either my JD or MPA in Boston and then i can do anything!

Damnit why don’t I have credit available? I would totally just throw a plane ticket on it if I had some available but i’m really trying hard to pay it down and I DID have some available but i had to pay for the tickets for the UVM game. Eff. *sigh*

In the meantime though, I have some real work to do. I need to find a plan to figure this all out so I can get my arse out of DC!! Peace kiddies!

Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap crapity crap crap crap.

C.R.A.P.

Yay Patriots! So excited :) :)

The State House would be a sweet place to work. I worked for the state for a longg time, and got totally fed up with the work ethic, etc., but I think it’s a bit different at the State House.

I’m sure you will figure something out!!

That’s such a simple (yet complicated) question, the what would make you happy. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

    Good luck with everything hun

I think you can find sleezeball workers no matter where you are…you just have to be honest and ethical and hope it works out in the end and you are surrounded by similar people…. (I want to do the same kind of stuff – but on the fed. level so I’m hoping that is somewhat true and it has been so far!)

thats awesome you got an interview! I drive by the state house every day (actually no- i see the top of it from memorial dr in cambridge every morning) My hubs couldn’t believe that Cowboys and Colts lost last night! I was just psyched for Texas to blame Jessica Simpson for the loss. HA

Congrats on the interview! I hope you can work everything out. File your taxes now if you get a refund, at least by the time you need money again it will be there. I am anxiously counting down the days until I get my refund and buy my laptop!

I hope you make it up there for the interview and everything works out!

“What do you want to do? What is going to make you happy?” I am trying to figure all of that out right now too. Sounds like you have some great ideas though, and congrats on the interview!! That is so awesome, I really hope you’re able to make it there.
