The Hunt for the perfect bag

by Heidi on October 16, 2007

So I’m still looking for the perfect bag. I looked Thursday during my search for a dress for the wedding. I found nothing. I hate that when you really really want something, and know EXACTLY what you’re looking for…you can never find it.

I really like this lacoste bag but at the same time i don’t want to spend $150 on a bag. Less than $50 if i can get away with it. Thus my interest in this bag and this bag but the only NY and Co is down in Potomac Yard and i either have to take the bus or get a zipcar which you’d think wouldnt be that hard since it’s literally like a mile from where i work *sigh* or of course Tysons Corner in Fairfax, Wheaton in Maryland, Springfield Mall in Alexandria and apparently at the Landmark Center in Alexandria. Haaarrrummmphh. Wheaton is metro accessible and i was thinking of going up there saturday afternoon after my run since there’s a target up there but the metro ride is so damn long. Gah i hate not having a car (i do technically have a zipcar membership but i do not drive in this city. I refuse to drive in this city. People are crazy down here)

Yesterday i went to Target on my lunch break. It was disastrous if only because i forgot about a staff meeting yesterday and told boyfriend who was sick to meet me at 1 for lunch. Needless to say, i saw boyfriend and puppy for about five minutes, bought us lunch and then grabbed the wrong sandwich. But, I digress…so i go exchange this coat that i bought for the wedding Friday night because it was missing one of the buckles that it had around the wrist. I’m not going to wear a coat that was missing one of the wrist belts. Eff that! So i brought it but i didn’t really like the black jacket because long jackets apparently don’t look good on my midget self. So i exchanged it for a shorter one. The shorter one was supposed to be $29.99 instead it was $49.99 which was rather annoying. Not to mention, the coat that I brought back was one of those ones that collects every inch of dust in a 2 mile radius. That type of fabric that no matter how many times you run a lint brush over it it still looks like crap. You know the one.

So the disgruntled lady at Target bitched at me because it was dirty and worn (in my defense, i wore it to the wedding Friday but only friday. and it didn’t get dirty.) and although i brought the tags back, she bitched because they weren’t on there. I noticed the belts missing AFTER i wore it. My bizzle but still. So now, I am the happy new owner of this jacket:

well fuck. i can’t find the picture of it. Well it’s super cute :) Just take my word for it.

Unfortunately because the disgruntled target worker gave me a hard time, i had no time to look at bags as usual. I am still…bagless and my poor longchamp bag is taking a brutal beating. I should drop it off tomorrow to see if it can be fixed/cleaned. I might as well try to salvage it while i can.

So for all my fabulous readers, what type of bag do you carry?? I need something big enough to carry a pair of shoes, an overflowing planner, wallet, a book, and breakfast/possibly lunch. yeah I carry everything but the kitchen sink. I’m looking for suggestions.

I have a problem with buying too many bags and makeup. My light brown longchamp bag I’ve had for about 6 months and it hasn’t gotten too dirty. yet- but my friends longchamp is a year old and looks kinda grungy. Is there a marshalls by you? They occasionally have cute cheap bags too! For some reason I rarely by black bags– dont know why that is! Good luck with your search and make sure you post a pic when ya do pick it out
